Music
I am a multi-instrumentalist and lifelong lover of music. I have performed on guitar, bass, mandolin, and bouzouki in numerous ensembles, including jazz, blues, rock and roll, and folk. One of my areas of personal study is the history of American music, and the many influences from immigrants and people of color that made American music traditions a unique and globally recognized part of world cultural heritage. While teaching both ESL and courses in American Culture at Indiana University, I have made an effort to incorporate songs and biographies of these often under-appreciated artists, who created some of the most influential and innovative works in the history of popular music.
